Welcome to the official website of the Omega Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
Founded on January 15, 1908, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the first Greek-letter organization established by and for African American college-educated women. Led by our visionary founder, Ethel Hedgemon (Lyle), eight other determined women laid the foundation for an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
From those humble beginnings, our sisterhood has grown to include more than 380,000 members worldwide, with 1,096 chapters across 13 nations and territories, including the United States, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Dubai, Germany, Japan, Liberia, Nigeria, South Korea, South Africa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Today, under the dynamic leadership of our International President and CEO, Danette Anthony Reed, Alpha Kappa Alpha continues to make an indelible impact across the globe.
Here in Montgomery, Alabama, Omega Chi Omega Chapter proudly embraces our Sorority’s theme, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. We are dedicated to serving our community with excellence, joining hands with fellow chapters and community partners to implement impactful programs that uplift, empower, and inspire.
As we carry out this important work, we do so under my administration’s guiding theme, Sisterhood is Our Superpower. It is through the strength of our bonds, our unity of purpose, and our commitment to one another that we can truly transform lives and communities.
It is my honor and privilege to serve as President of this exceptional chapter. Together, with enthusiasm and purpose, we will continue to strengthen our bonds of sisterhood and advance our legacy of being “Supreme in Service to All Mankind.”
Sincere best wishes,
Dr. Mimi Evelyn Johnson
President
